Glad these places exist.  I don't hit the CCC too often, but I like that it exists and I like where their motives lie.  Great place to see the roots of the Portland Biking Culture at work.

Caffe Destino   Jul 17
Category: Coffee & Tea
Neighborhood: Sabin
1339 NE Fremont St.

Starbucks stands just 35 yards away and I don't even blink as I walk past it to superior coffee, service and ambiance.  Destino Coffee is on the corner of NE 13th and NE Fremont and is host to a great selection of breakfast and sandwich items in addition to great coffee.  The reason one should give Destino a try lies beyond the atmosphere, food and drink.  The staff and ownership are among the best I have met in 35 years on the earth. They epitomize what it should mean to be a patron of a small business and the related experience one should get.  I cannot speak to how great this coffee shop is in just a paragraph so I will leave it to future reviews to elaborate and substantiate my sentiments.

Hillsdale Veterinary Group   Jul 14
Category: Veterinarians
Neighborhood:
6359 SW Capital Hwy
Portland, 97239
We moved to the east side in 2006.  One of the things we didn't abandon on the west side was our Vet.  Dr. Flecker and the Hillsdale Veterinary Group. They have been great to our Black Lab for years.  No complaints.  The care and knowledgeable staff have always impressed us at each visit and since referring maybe 10+ friends we haven't heard anything from them but strong reviews!  They aren't pushy, they recommend treatments but never with any pressure.  We appreciate that!

Pok Pok   Jul 14
Category: Thai Restaurants
Neighborhood: Richmond
3226 SE Division St
Portland, 97202
Where do I start?  The eggplant is what I continue to recall first... smoked with a taste I have never had in my mouth!  The curries were spot on amazing and the pork skewers went down quickly and easily.  The catfish was well... catfish, and the rices were quite nice.  There was so much on the table between the four of us that I could keep track of where and what was going down, but in the spirit of complete disclosure, I have never had that many tastes in my mouth in one sitting.  The menu is frankly incredible and the folks at Pok Pok have obviously spent a considerable amount of time nailing down their recipes. I was quite impressed.  We sat in the corner booth of the lower level which upon entering, immediately feels like the basement of the old home they transferred into what is one of Portland's most cherished restaurants.

Great Wine Buys   Jul 12
Category: Wine Shops
Neighborhood: Irvington
1515 NE Broadway
Portland, 97212
The Business name is true to form. I have been buying wine from Great Wine Buys for 3+ years now and I can say without hesitation that it is one of, if not the best spot to buy wine in Portland.  The staff and related service is always spot on!  Sincere, candid advice is all I ask for and that is what they offer.  The prices are "great" and the selection is always strong.  To put a simple wrap on this review, let me finally say that the location is great for folks who live in close-in northeast!
Pros: "Great" selection, prices, staff and location!

Nice new local album!  Have you heard it?  If so, share your thoughts! CPR and White Liars are pretty solid!

If "street food" is synonomous with food carts then I wouldn't know where to start.  Moxie, the Grilled Cheese, Tabor.... Koi Fusion, the list is long!

Hey there rosieposie!  If safest by way of statistics were to be the recommendation then you would probably find the suburban neighborhoods of Lake Oswego to be among the safest.  However when you also say best that is a whole other ball of wax.  As a realtor of 8 years I can tell you what my favorite neighborhoods are, but I would need a lot more to go on... example: do you want to walk to coffee/grocer, do you want to be close to public transportation, do you want to ride your bike places easily, etc.  do you prefer a commuter neighborhood, urban vs. suburban.. the list is long.  Portland's neighborhoods are diverse and you can find different aspects of livability in each.  If you throw out some more details there will plenty of direction I or others can offer!  Thanks!

I noticed in a local publication that a particular burger wasn't on the list of Portland's best burgers.  It has caused me to create this inquiry with other Portlanders about their favorite burger?  For me,,, Toro Bravo has the best burger I have ever had, but for a heavy burger, fries and some suds another one comes to mind which I am interested to see if others comment on.
