Company History
Cathedral Park is one of the most beautiful parks in Portland. It is rich in history. Lewis and Clark were believed to have used it as a landing site and were said to camp their in April of 1806. Prior to their arrival the spot was said to be a popular fishing and camping site for Indians. Many years later, James John (who founded St. Johns) operated a ferrry from the site. In the 1970's after Howard Galbraith organized a fundraising effort to build today's park, 7.5 million dollars was raised and the park was complete in May of 1980. The name for the park came from the cathedral shaped arches of the St. Johns bridge which are most effectively seen from the park.Description
