Love everything about this family-run business. Jim and Patty have a pretty close knit family and you can usually find one of their kids tending bar on any given morning. There are so many reasons why this is my favorite coffeehouse - baked-from-scratch pastries, friendly people, laid-back atmosphere, good soundtrack, comfy couches, toys on hand for the kiddos... And I love that they give back to both the local and global community - from organizing projects to help support local homeless shelters to funding a school in Ghana. And they serve Stumptown! Plus how can not love a place that names their drink sizes after the Cleavers.
Pros: wonderful pastries, free wi-fi, great coffee, family-friendly, family owned, locally owned
Cons: None come to mind

We take our dog here all the time mainly because of the convenience - we live close and it's near the airport. The staff is always friendly and it's a no-frills place, but I have no complaints. Yes, our dog did smell like a urinal after a week of romping around with other dogs, but now we request a bath a few hours before pick-up and she comes home smelling like roses.
Pros: Convenient location, friendly staff

We stayed here for a special occasion after numerous recommendations. From the moment I walked in I didn't want to leave. Loved the modern decor, the vibe, the room... not to mention the excellent service. Great location and price to boot. I can't wait to go back again.

In the eight years our family has lived in this neighborhood, we've gone to Amalfi's a number of times since it's right down the street. Love their pizza and the cornmeal crust, but the handful of times I've ordered an entree I've been disappointed. They're know for their pizza and that's what they do best. Kiauna the owner (third generation) did a great job remodeling the place recently and can usually be found on any given night talking with guests.
Pros: family-friendly, great pizza, locally owned
Cons: bland entrees
