Neighborhood: Northwest/Nob Hill

This is the one thing I miss about living in NW. I haven't been everywhere, but the croissants here are the best I've had since the Mediterranean! The other plus is that this is the only cafe in town I've found great for drawing in. The coffee is pretty good - but the traffic that comes through here is incredible. Seating is an issue, but just wait a minute.

I had over half-dozen friends surprise a friend here at the bar. We all had a great time smooshed inbetween the 3 feet of standing, sitting and throughfare area at the bar. The drinks were great - and although pricey, it was a great, clean lit atmosphere for some early drinks and eats. I've also been in the summer - again, great park location.
Pros: Park, location
Cons: Pricey

Cricket Cafe   Feb 06

Breakfast cafe's have got to be one of the hardest businesses to keep in PDX. I used to come here when I lived close, but now I don't really bother. The portions are enormous. The biscuits awesome. It's usually packed on a weekend. But I always got the impression they didn't want us there - even if I came with 1 person or 4.
Pros: Biscuits, portions
Cons: Holier-than-thou-hipster-service

Reasonably priced - good happy hour prices too! A quaint hip place with doors as table tops and a couple picnic tables outside. If you plant yourself outside at dusk you get a fairly good view of the sun setting over Portland.
Pros: Happy Hour

I come here pretty often to print reference photos because it's convienent and for lack of any other ideas. Wouldn't it be great to have a local alternative? Is there? It's always a plus that whenever I get something printed here they mess it up...so I leave with twice what I pay for!

Starting this Saturday is the Portland Japanese Garden's "Behind the Shoji". Two dozen regional potters, carvers, and artists working in the Japanese aesthetic. AND it's in the Garden!

Skyline is classic. Good simple shakes too. Try also Higgens in SW, for a total sirloin burger with pickled items. Awesome international beer selection too - and always served in the appropriate glass - something rarely seen here.

I listened to this album 3 times in a row today. Terrific! Great summer album. Check out also: Delta Spirit and Mumford & Sons.

I hate Yahoo. Everything about it. Going as far back as when they swallowed Geocities. This is great that PDX got that "honor" but Yahoo gives no reason why. Sunny. And rainy. Great.
