Thai food done in it's usual, but fantastic, American way. The atmosphere is pretty good too.

I think St. Honore has a nice niche carved out for itself on the stylish Thurman hood. And I do think it does have that great outdoor seating onto said street. So for that, I guess I see what could be appealing. But otherwise I never saw what the fuss was about. Ken's outdoes the baking.

Portland premier (and only?!) Latin-American Theatre company. I've seen two or three productions here - packed into their small, intimate space in the back. Everything has been excellent. I am constantly impressed at their bilingual productions. The quality of the productions, although in such a small theatre, sometimes rival that of Portland Center Stage.
Pros: Original, local, ethnic, great productions

We had our rehersal dinner here. We looked into many places, but always came back to Sal's. Biard sat down with us and let us pick a small menu of well rounded (and delicious!) dishes for our event. They set us up in the back - and somehow, made nearly 20 of us fit comfortably and intimately!
Pros: Affordable, easy atmosphere, food

My mother-in-law has her Cathy Waterman ring from here. I bought my wife's CW ring from here. And my brother-in-law also almost bought a CW ring for his fiance too! They remember all of us each time we walk in the door.

Thanks! I'm having a hard time believing there is anyone in this town that won't do their own yard work. And it's not like there is much grass to mow in this town. I like the regional-natural landscaping consciousness here!

the funny thing about Portland is that the very IDEA of an icon seems enough. Portland is a very immaterial place. What about the proposed bridges? I think it's there that we should make our mark...

In David Byrne's "Bicycle Diaries"(yeah, that Byrne), he gives a quick crit of other cities and their bike habits. The book isn't all about biking (and actually, more about the thinking he is taken to because of biking). But its funny because helmets don't come up often. But things are safer for bikers in other places like Germany, where he really seemed to like.
