Stumptown Coffee Roasters (Division)   Mar 09
Category: Coffee & Tea
Neighborhood: Richmond
4525 SE Division Street
Portland, 97202
We should all be proud... they have killer coffee, they take the entire purchase, roasting and serving process as seriously as anyone and their locations are just plain cool.  This may be my favorite because it isn't as pronounced or as commercial as the others.  I love the sitting area, complete with old sofas, lounge chairs and ample WiFi for the 2-3 dozen people who use it concurrently during the day...  lines can be long, but they (their baristas) move through the lines like no other shop I know.  Can't say enough good things!
Pros: Wifi, Sitting Area, Location, Service, Speed
Cons: huh?

Garden Fever!   Mar 08
Category: Garden Supplies
Neighborhood: Alameda
3433 NE NE 24th Ave.
Portland, 97212
the title is a reference I don't make lightly...  1) the prices are competitive...  2) the location is perfect for my needs as a NE Portland resident... 3) the staff is incredibly kind and knowledgable... 4) the accessories are better than any garden store I have ever been to... 5) sorry... I have to reiterate the price and the location....

I have never had better tatertots anywhere...  (YES, including McMenamins) The food here is some of the best pub food I know in SW Portland and the venue is very cool.  I love walking up the stairs to the dining room.  The booths are great, the overall ambiance is fun and the service has always been good.  My last time here, I had lunch and the club I had was delicious.   I can't speak too much to the beers, but from the ones I have had they are pretty good.

Office Depot   Mar 08
Category: Office Equipment
Neighborhood: Buckman
323 SE Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.
Portland, 97214
I come here maybe once a month.  The location is the primary driving force..  The selection is good when it comes to office supplies (paper products, pens, staplers, etc...)  I haven't loved the selection of printers or computers and respectfully entertain other venues for larger purchases of the sort... The service is good, the waits are short and again I come back to the location...

Lucky Labrador Brewing Company   Mar 07
Category: Brewpubs
Neighborhood: Hosford-Abernathy
915 SE Hawthorne Blvd.
Portland, 97214
This particular Lucky Lab is in a great location off of Hawthorne in SE.  I particularly like it because I can bike there... they also boast a large bike rack that is often times pretty full (a sign of good patrons!).  the beer is good, not the best in town, but good.  The food is pretty straightforward, but also good.  What I like best is the group dining.. and kid-friendly atmosphere.  If you are with a big group or with kids and looking to have a couple beers, this is the spot.  I give it a sound 4 stars.

Ok... while not the best, the Water Tower Park, AKA Hydro Park, AKA Sabin Park off Prescott is solid.  The jungle gym rocks.. with three larger slides.. and they have swings!! new swings!  how often do you see new swings at a portland park?  It is a sweet sweet little park that likely gets overlooked.

Have you been to Jay's!?  I just drove past it today... down on MLK towards Lombard.  expect a week turn around for that blade or my recommendation is buynig a new one, having the old sharpened and switching between the two when necessary.

Do tell?  Can you go there wearing jeans?  Is the late night menu all that?
