Sesame Donuts   Mar 11
Category: Donuts
Neighborhood: Raleigh Hills
6990 SW Beaverton Hillsdale Hwy
Portland, 97225
This can't be disputed.... the donut holes from Sesame are the best in Portland!  Including the sesame ones.  I love them so much I am considering leaving my couch and computer to drive there now (9:41pm).  There isn't much to say other than this landmark in Raleigh Hills is integral to Portland's reputation for baked goods.

Backspace   Mar 11
Category: Coffee & Tea
Neighborhood: Old Town
115 NW 5th Avenue
Portland, 97209
My trips to backspace have been for grabbing coffee in the AM.  I haven't been here for a show, but that day will eventually come.  The service, the coffee, the pastries and the fact they have tons of space to spead out and work is great!  They also have solid WiFi.
Pros: Space, Coffee, WiFi
Cons: Parking

Voodoo Doughnut Too   Mar 10
Category: Donuts
Neighborhood: Kerns
1501 NE Davis St.
Portland, 97232
Seriously... I know Voodoo gets the best press in the world... some seems to come from its "crazy" off the wall creations, but to keep it simple.. their vegan donuts are fricken good!  What I love most about them is that they don't leave my mouth with a fuzzy coating on it... they seem lighter, oddly more healthy (although I can't prove this) and ultimately I can eat more of them because I don't hate myself two donuts in.  The location I love most of all... the downtown location was just a pain for us.. maybe we were just unlucky, but this location is perfect!!!!  I haven't taken in their eclectic patio furniture, but one Sunday or Saturday morning this summer I plan to!

White Eagle Cafe & Saloon   Mar 10
Category: Pubs
Neighborhood: Eliot
836 N Russell St.
Portland, 97227
The White Eagle is located in an area of Portland I just love... the small block that is host to a dozen or so businesses is just off Interstate and just west of N. Mississippi.  The White Eagle has a killer outdoor patio.  I love it!  I have about 6 outdoor patios I love in Portland and this is one of them.  The interior of the White Eagle is classic... a narrow, deep (lengthwise) bar where you can pull up a chair at the bar or at one of the tables and stare down the beautiful brick walls at the stage (host to countless shows).  It is McMenamins so you know the food and beer... but the venue is quite possibly my favorite in Portland (Kennedy school not included).

Pinball Publishing   Mar 10
Category: Printing Services
Neighborhood: Hosford-Abernathy
1003 SE Grant St.
Portland, 97214
Customer Service so far has been beyond my expectations.  Pricing has been competitive... I am writing this prior to my job going to press.  I am going to take up this review upon completion to see how the overall experience relates to the pre-press experience.  In short, these guys saved me a huge headache by asking me to look at the spot colors on my business cards.. another local printer didn't even mention it and upon going to pinball they spent at least 45 minutes with me confirming colors, explaining the process and discussing appropriate alternatives for getting things printed as I hoped.  Small, quaint printer in SE (near Ladd's) that has done work for a ton of killer local companies!

Ok... while not the best, the Water Tower Park, AKA Hydro Park, AKA Sabin Park off Prescott is solid.  The jungle gym rocks.. with three larger slides.. and they have swings!! new swings!  how often do you see new swings at a portland park?  It is a sweet sweet little park that likely gets overlooked.

Have you been to Jay's!?  I just drove past it today... down on MLK towards Lombard.  expect a week turn around for that blade or my recommendation is buynig a new one, having the old sharpened and switching between the two when necessary.
