Don't get me wrong, Cha, Cha, Cha is full of tasy eats.  However, when it come to their Fremont shop, I have to downgrade a star.  They have the same food as their other shops, but the prices here are between 2-3 dollars more than their other shops.  I'm not sure why this is the case.
Pros: Great Cha food.
Cons: You pay more for it on Fremont

River City Bicycles   Jan 31
Category: Bike Shops
Neighborhood: Buckman
706 SE Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.
Portland, 97214
Sure, this place is rad.  It's a huge bike shop with a track upstairs...how could it not be rad.  So, I won't chat up the bikes.  Check the other reviews.  However, they also have a solid fit team.  If you're going to ride road style and log some miles a fit is well worth your time.  For 100.00 they'll fit you on your bike, adjust it until it feels perfect, and make sure your cleats are fit to keep your knees happy.  And they'll keep doing it with a smile for  a year.  I had a knee injury and had to go back a few times  (five) because it was being pretty sensitive.  They worked with me until my bike was perfecto!  Totally cool about it!
Pros: Great fit team!
Cons: They're prices are fair, but no huge deals until their yearly sale.

Jim and Patty's Coffee   Jan 31
Category: Coffee & Tea
Neighborhood: Beaumont-Wilshire
4951 NE Fremont Street
Portland, 97213
There are family owned business that share a little of their flavor and then there is Jim and Patty's.  These are the folks that used to own Coffee People and walking into their shop is probably similar to walking into their home.  The food is amazing, the drinks creative (try the jalapeno mocha) and the people that work there are friendly in a very real way.  They'll say howdy, but tease you too.  Bibles and Kerouac are found on the book shelves and the vibe of the 60's is found in every corner.
Pros: Great French Press and huge drink menu
Cons: On a Saturday be prepaired to wait!

For sure!  How cool would it be to have "Stumptown" in blazing neon (low energy use neon of course) blazing at the end of a bridge!

You mean to tell me you're not excited for the U of O sign that is going up?  Is that going up?  I keep hearing rumors about our Made in Oregon sign and yet it still seems to glow.

Thanks Editor!  So, this begs the next question.  How do we work together to place some steps in place that builders have to go through before building that prevents cheap construction in historic neighborhoods?  Are there laws already in place that allow the community to voice their opposition and we just don't know what to do or how to do it?
