After reading reviews here, I wanted to check this place out for myself.  I really liked it!  We went on a Saturday morning and they do have a sit down breakfast on the weekends.  We decided to just get coffees and pastries to go.  And oh my goodness...the pecan sticky bun was SO good.  I saw it while I was waiting in line and knew I was going to have to try it.  It was warm, sticky and delicious.  I also got a latte that was good.  My son ordered an apple, maple bacon scone.  He really only wanted it because of the maple "frosting" on top but he actually ate a lot of it and I tried a couple of bites.  The bacon wasn't too overpowering.  It tasted great.    I liked the outdoor space here.  They have several picnic tables and round tables on a big patio.  If you feel like taking your drinks and goodies to go, there's a little park just a block away too.  I will definitely be coming back here.  The staff were so friendly too...as we were leaving two of them were taking a break and they said thank you so much for coming by.  It felt very sincere.  That doesn't happen everywhere.
Pros: delicious baked goods, friendly service

I needed a new spot to grab and go or sit down for breakfast.  The location is ideal, the patio is HUGE!!! and the interior is small and cozy.  It can feel like a hipster paradise, but get over it... the place is great from head to toe.  The baked goods are taken seriously and this becomes obvious from the second you see the mountains of scones upon entering the building.  There is plenty of people watching, plenty of kids and while we were there this weekend (April 25/2010) we had the opportunity to see a two piece band (violin and banjo) play feet from us as our 3 year old and 1 year danced merrily.  We will be back soon for a full breakfast!

Have been to this place a few times in the past year.  Love the biscuits and scones and cookies and muffins.  I suspect Bakery Bar is among the BEST bakeries in Portland. The food menu has been different each time (ranging from only baked goods, to egg sandwiches only, to the current full-on breakfast and lunch menu).  This a.m. we had a great veggie hash and egg sandwich.  In the summer, the front "yard" is a nice seating option.
